F1 & E-Gear Clutch Rebuild & Installation Guide

A single-clutch automated manual uses a friction clutch operated by the vehicle’s control and hydraulic systems. GTE Engineering rebuilds applicable clutch assemblies using PEGA Clutch friction configurations. Clutch rebuilding, actuator repair, flywheel service and installation calibration are related services with separate scopes.

What a clutch rebuild changes

The clutch assembly is inspected for wear, heat damage, distortion and serviceability. The selected friction-lining specification and agreed reconditioning work are then applied to suitable components. Rebuilding does not mean every metal part becomes new, nor does it automatically include the flywheel, release bearing, slave cylinder or hydraulic actuator.

Select the stage for the vehicle

PEGA Stage 1 uses FX4C-SC organic lining; Stage 3 uses FXSS-SC Kevlar®. Other offered configurations combine organic or Kevlar with BFXX ceramic, while Stage 5 is racing-focused ceramic. Use the full PEGA guide and exact product options. A transmission Stage 1 is a different service definition from PEGA Clutch Stage 1.

Inspect the supporting components

  • Flywheel: surface condition, dimensions and permitted repair method.
  • Pressure plate and related parts: heat condition, diaphragm operation, release clearance and damage.
  • Release bearing/slave cylinder: leakage, movement and correct fitment.
  • Hydraulic system: correct fluid, bleeding, pressure supply, hose condition and feedback.
  • Control setup: applicable clutch-position information, learned values and calibration procedure.

Balancing and calibration are different

Balancing concerns rotating mass distribution. Calibration establishes the vehicle’s operating references and control behavior. One does not replace the other. The balancing scope follows the selected options and estimate; clutch learning and vehicle checks are performed by the installer under the correct model-specific procedure.

Information needed for a quote

Send the VIN, model, year, transmission type, existing clutch reference, photographs and desired use. Tell GTE about turbocharging, engine tuning, racing, a gated manual conversion or an OTO clutch conversion. Torque demand and complete assembly configuration matter more than a stage number alone.

After installation

Follow the instructions for the exact clutch and vehicle. Do not substitute a generic clutch reset, PIS value or bedding-in distance from another model. Investigate abnormal drag, slip, overheating or failed learning before returning the vehicle to service.

Common questions

Will new linings fix a leaking release bearing?

No. The release system requires its own inspection and repair.

Does rebuilding include actuator diagnostics?

Only if separately agreed; the received clutch cannot establish the condition of the complete hydraulic system.

Are all stages available for every model?

No. Follow the specific product listing and approved application.

GTE Engineering service information. Product availability, included work, price and turnaround follow the current listing and approved estimate.
