Ferrari FF & GTC4Lusso 4RM PTU Rebuild Guide

GTE Engineering provides inspection and rebuilding of applicable Ferrari FF and GTC4Lusso 4RM Power Transfer Units (PTUs). The front PTU and its hydraulic power unit must be identified separately from the rear dual-clutch transmission. This guide helps owners and installers choose the correct service request.

What does the PTU do?

The PTU is part of Ferrari’s 4RM front-drive system. It contributes drive to the front wheels under the system’s control. It is not the rear Getrag 7DCL750 gearbox. Ferrari’s own GTC4Lusso information distinguishes the 4RM system; applicability must still be confirmed for the exact vehicle. Do not assume that a GTC4Lusso T or every vehicle bearing the Lusso name uses the same front-drive arrangement.

Two related service listings

  • PTU rebuild: assessment and agreed repair of the removed mechanical/hydraulic PTU assembly.
  • PTU power-unit service: work on the associated hydraulic pressure-supply assembly, according to its separate listing and estimate.

Hoses, accumulator, sensors, seals, internal mechanical parts and fluid supplies are included only as specified. Ordering one assembly’s service does not automatically include every component of the 4RM system.

Symptoms and diagnosis

A 4RM warning, leakage, abnormal operation or suspected fluid-circuit problem requires vehicle-specific diagnosis. Record fault codes, fluid observations, operating temperature, noises and prior repairs. Wiring, control functions, hydraulic supply and mechanical condition must be considered together. A warning light alone is not proof that the complete PTU requires replacement.

Inspection and rebuilding

GTE assesses the received component and defines the repair scope from its condition. Additional damaged parts or related assemblies require an agreed estimate. Preserve identification labels and describe any previous disassembly or modifications. Do not send loose components or drain, open or bleed the assembly contrary to GTE’s current shipping instructions.

Installation matters

The PTU has application-specific preparation, fluid and commissioning requirements. Ask GTE which current installation guide applies to the supplied unit. Do not apply rear DCT filling instructions to the front PTU or substitute a generic gearbox oil. The installer must verify the vehicle-side circuits, correct connections and operation after installation.

Request a PTU assessment

  • Send VIN, model, year and PTU identification.
  • State whether the concern is the front unit, hydraulic power unit, hoses or rear transmission.
  • Provide a diagnostic report, leak photographs and prior repair history.
  • Confirm the send-in arrangement and required packing before dispatch.

Common questions

Does a PTU rebuild include the rear transmission?

No. The rear DCT is a separate service.

Are every hose and the power unit included?

Only the parts and services specified in your listing and approved estimate are included.

Can rebuilding replace vehicle diagnosis?

No. Removed-unit inspection and complete vehicle diagnosis address different parts of the problem.
