Identify the component before ordering
The hydraulic power unit supplies pressure, while the actuator and control valves manage the applicable shift and clutch functions. A complete transmission, clutch assembly, hydraulic power unit and shift actuator are different repair scopes. Identify which component is being supplied so the estimate and photographs describe the same work.
Please provide:
- The vehicle's VIN, model, year and transmission type.
- Clear photographs of the unit, identification label, electrical connectors and hydraulic connections.
- Fault codes and the installing workshop's diagnostic findings.
- Symptoms, when they occur, previous repairs and any vehicle modifications.
How the rebuild scope is established
- Application review: GTE reviews the identification and the requested component service.
- Inspection: The supplied unit is assessed for wear, leakage, contamination and damaged or missing components.
- Agreed repair: The estimate states the cleaning, reconditioning, seal work, component replacements and testing included for that unit. Replacement pumps, accumulators, valves, sensors, lines or other parts must be specifically identified.
- Return and installation: GTE confirms the return arrangements and relevant instructions. The installing workshop performs the vehicle-specific procedures and final operational checks.
Symptoms that require diagnosis
Hydraulic leakage, pressure loss, delayed operation, gear-selection problems and transmission warnings can have several causes. A symptom does not by itself establish that the hydraulic unit is the failed component. Supply the vehicle diagnostic findings so the proposed repair can be assessed in context.
Clutch and vehicle work
An ASM component rebuild does not automatically include a clutch rebuild, flywheel service, release bearing, complete transmission overhaul or vehicle programming. Those items require their own inspection and estimate. PEGA Clutch® lining services apply to eligible clutch assemblies; ASM hydraulic components are rebuilt under GTE Engineering.
Aston Martin ASM rebuild questions
Does this service apply to every Aston Martin automatic transmission?
No. Confirm that the vehicle has the applicable ASM or Sportshift system. Model names and the word “automatic” alone are not sufficient to identify the equipment.
Is every accumulator, sensor or valve replaced?
The supplied unit and agreed estimate determine the replacement scope. Ask GTE to confirm the included parts before authorizing the rebuild.
Does component testing replace installation checks?
No. Vehicle wiring, hydraulic connections, bleeding, setup and calibration must be checked according to the applicable installation procedure.
How should I ship the unit?
Arrange the job with GTE first, then follow the shipping instructions. Include your job or order reference and confirm the receiving address and packing requirements before dispatch.
