GTE Engineering inspects, repairs and rebuilds customer-supplied Getrag/Magna 7DCL750 dual-clutch transmissions for applicable Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG and Ford GT applications. This information guide explains the service process; the linked shop listing and approved estimate define the purchased work.
What is the 7DCL750?
The 7DCL750 is a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission family. Its two clutch paths, gear-selection mechanisms, electronics and hydraulic controls work together. It differs from earlier single-clutch Ferrari F1 and Lamborghini E-Gear automated manuals. Shared family names do not establish interchangeability between manufacturers, assemblies, internal parts or software.
Rebuild stages and additional work
| Service | Scope |
|---|---|
| Stage 1 — Tear-down & Inspection | Tear-down and inspection only. Replacement parts, electronics and hydraulic-unit refurbishment are additional quoted work. |
| Stage 3 — A-Service Kit & Peephole Fix | The A-Service package and peephole repair follow the selected shop option and approved estimate. Confirm the required sensor and kit work before ordering. |
| Further repairs or upgrades | Clutch, synchronizers, gears, bearings, hydraulic assemblies and performance upgrades are assessed and quoted for the individual unit. |
Additional service parts and work may include transmission speed sensors, electrovalves, gears, seals, pumps, clutch speed sensors, pressure sensors, gaskets, and refurbishment of the SAP and CCP hydraulic units. These are not automatically included in Stage 1.
SAP and CCP: what do they control?
SAP: the gear-selection hydraulic assembly, commonly described in the repair catalog as the Shift Actuating Panel. It operates the gear-selection mechanisms. CCP: the clutch hydraulic control assembly, commonly described as the Clutch Control Panel. It regulates clutch operation. These are distinct from the friction clutch pack, mechanical gears and synchronizers. The glossary gives further terminology context.
Diagnosis before parts replacement
Warnings, unavailable gears, delayed engagement, pressure problems, internal leaks and speed-signal faults require a documented diagnosis. Supply voltage, wiring, fluid circuits, cooling and contamination can affect the result. A fault code alone does not prove that a speed sensor, valve, pump or complete transmission needs replacement.
What GTE needs
- VIN, exact model, year and installed transmission identification.
- Fault-code report and measured diagnostic findings.
- Hot/cold symptoms, previous repairs, leaks and fluid condition.
- Photographs of labels, connectors and any previously opened areas.
- Engine modifications and intended use for performance builds.
From inspection to an approved repair
- Confirm the correct listing and send-in arrangement before shipping.
- Pack the removed unit according to GTE’s shipping instructions.
- GTE evaluates the assembly and identifies additional repair requirements.
- Approve the estimate before work outside the purchased scope proceeds.
- The installer completes the correct fluid fill, setup, adaptations and vehicle checks using the applicable guide.
Clutch and performance upgrades
GTE is a Dodson authorized dealer for Ferrari applications. Clutch selection and any associated hard-part work must match the exact assembly and intended torque demand. A stage name is not a universal horsepower rating. New replacement parts, rebuilt assemblies and upgrade kits are separate supply types; confirm which is offered by each listing.
Common questions
Does Stage 1 include seals or electronics?
No. It includes tear-down and inspection only. Parts and electronics are additional.
Is the FF front PTU included?
No. The front 4RM PTU is a separate assembly and service.
Does every Ferrari DCT use this exact unit?
No. Confirm the installed transmission rather than ordering by the words “Ferrari DCT” alone.
Where are installation instructions?
Use the current technical downloads and confirm applicability with GTE. A general fluid quantity or online summary is not a substitute for the procedure for your unit.
